What security measures does the Blackberry handheld device take to protect my data from hackers?

Document: Q1066

Overview:

The Blackberry handheld device can be used with Link2Exchange when you signup for our Blackberry add-on. The Blackberry gives you the ability to receive real-time email (both sending and receiving) and calendar updates from your Link2Exchange account.

To protect your data, the Blackberry creates a secure, encrypted tunnel between our network and your handheld device. The tunnel utilizes 3DES (168-bit) encryption, which is essentially unbreakable. As an additional security measure, you may enter a password into your Blackberry to protect its contents from anyone who might gain unauthorized access to it.

For more information see The Technical White Paper on Blackberry Security.

It is important to note that the email will not be encrypted on the recipient's mail server nor will it be encrypted in your Sent Items folder. Also, any email that is sent to a non-Link2Exchange customer will go out over the Internet in non-encrypted format (as all normal Internet email traffic does).
