Overview:
If your CISCO VPN client is giving 'User authentication failed' error messages, it can only be for one of the following reasons: you're already connected to Link2Exchange's VPN with this account, you're typing in the wrong username/password combination or your account has been temporarily locked out due to too many bad password attempts in a row.
Procedure:
If you receive the error 'User Authentication Failed' when connecting with your Link2Exchange VPN client, do the following:
- Verify that you are using the correct username/password to log into Link2Exchange's network by testing them at https://mail.link2exchange.com. If you're able to log in there, then you should be able to log into the VPN. Try connecting again - this time carefully check your username and password and make sure the CAPSLOCK key isn't on.
- Your VPN login is your Link2Exchange email address and password.
- Disconnect any open VPN client sessions and verify that you haven't left your VPN client open on any other computers. Try connecting again.
- If all else fails, wait 15 minutes and try again. If your account is locked out, it will automatically unlock itself after 15 minutes.
