Overview:
Some users, mostly on Windows XP, receive IPC socket allocation errors when connecting their VPN clients to Link2Exchange. This is a known bug in the client and the only workaround is to downgrade to an older version of the VPN client. (linked below)
IMPORTANT NOTE: Link2Exchange strongly recommends using RPC over SSL for users who have Windows XP and Outlook 2003. This connection method completely removes the need for the VPN client.
For details, see: Configuring RPC over HTTPS for Outlook 2003 on Windows XP/2003.
Procedure:
- Log into the Link2Exchange Client Download Site using your email address and password.
- Click "Older Link2Exchange VPN client for Windows (use only if you're getting an ipc socket allocation error on the primary VPN client)".
- Click Save.
- Click Desktop (on the left) then click Save.
- Scan this file for viruses. (Better safe than sorry.)
- Double click on the vpnclient file you just downloaded to start the installation.
- If you already have a VPN client installed, running this program will uninstall the older client. Once it's done reboot and then re-run this program to begin the installation.
- Click Next.
- Read the license agreement and then click I accept the license agreement and click Next to continue the installation. If you do not agree to the license agreement, you cannot use the VPN client.
- Click Next.
- Click Next again. This will begin the software installation process.
- Click Finish.
- When prompted to restart your PC, click Yes.
- Once the reboot is complete, the VPN client will load automatically. Click Connect and log in with your email address and password.
