Outlook sub-folders are not synchronizing to the Blackberry

Document: Q1335

Overview:

The Blackberry is not designed to synchronize the Outlook sub-folders like a PocketPC using Windows mobile (ActiveSync) would. When the Blackberry first syncs to your exchange account, it will only synchronize “new” emails to the INBOX after the Enterprise Activation. The Blackberry will synchronize to your current stored Outlook calendar, contacts, tasks and memo items. The Blackberry will pre-populate sub-folders created from Outlookbr>

Procedure:

However, the sub-folders on the Blackberry can be misleading. The Blackberry sub-folders will not synchronize rules or older stored emails from your Outlook. The Blackberry sub-folders are designed to be set as filters to the INBOX folder. The Blackberry sub-folders are not separate folders like Outlook; they are just extensions of the Blackberry INBOX. If the specific sub-folder is un-selected, that email will not synchronize to the Blackberry INBOX. For Example: Remember, the Blackberry will “only” synchronize to your Outlooks INBOX. If an email comes into your Outlook INBOX and you have a rule set to move that specific email out of the INBOX and into the Sub-Folder. That email will not synchronize to the Blackberry, because that email is no longer associated to the Outlook INBOX.

When the specific Blackberry sub-folder is selected, it will synchronize to the Blackberry INBOX. You can view that email in your INBOX, also in the sub-folder. However, if the email is deleted from the sub-folder, it will also be removed from the INBOX

To select the Blackberry sub-folders:
On your Blackberry, choose your messages icon, click on your trackwheel, than click on Options, Email Settings, and click again, than click on Folder Redirection. Expand the mailbox by pressing your spacebar on the + symbol. Place a checkmark in the little box next to the folders you want to see emailed to your Blackberry. If you want to see all emails, than click on your trackwheel and click on Select All. When done, Save, than exit back to messages. This will allow you to see emails in those folders from this point forward. NOTE:
To manually SAVE wanted emails to your Blackberry memory
Right click on the wanted email and click save. This email will be physically saved on your Blackberry memory. To access, choose your BB messages icon, click on your track wheel, than click “view Saved Messages”.
