My messages screen no longer has an Email Reconciliation option. What should I do?
Document: Q1292
Overview:
Occassionally a Blackberry's service books may become corrupted and cause the wireless synchronization settings to disappear. When this happens, the service books must be redownloaded to your phone.
This can be done using the Blackberry Desktop Manager software on your computer.
Procedure:
- If you've made any changes on your Blackberry since wireless sync stopped working then sync your Blackberry via Desktop Manager, This is to make sure any changes on the Blackberry are uploaded to the server before deleting your service books).
- Delete the Desktop service books (except for BrowserConfig service book) to clear out any corrupted software.
- If the Blackberry is connected to your computer, disconnect it.
- On your Blackberry device's home screen, click Options.
- Scroll down and click Service Books.
- For each item that begins with the word Desktop (except for Desktop [BrowserConfig]), do the following.
- Scroll down and click on the Desktop service book. (They'll have names like 'Desktop [CICAL]' and 'Desktop [SYNC]' - do this for each of them.
- Click the trackwheel to drop down the menu then click Delete.
- Click Delete again.
- Once the only Desktop Service book left is 'Desktop [BrowserConfig]' you're finished deleting service books.
- Download the new service books through Desktop Manager.
- Log into Microsoft Outlook with your Link2Exchange profile. (This will make it easier to open Blackberry Desktop Manager later.)
- Connect your Blackberry to your PC via the USB cable that came with it.
- Click Start->Programs (or All Programs)->Blackberry->Desktop Manager.
- If you do not have the Desktop Manager software, see: My Blackberry isn't wirelessly syncing my Address Book/MemoPad/Tasks. What should I do?
- The status bar should say 'Connected' and 'Online'.
- If it says 'Disconnected'...
- Click Options->Connection Settings.
- Next to Connection, select USB. It should say 'USB-PIN: ''
- Click OK.
- If it still says 'Disconnected', unplug your Blackberry from your USB port and plug it into another USB port on your computer. Many PCs have USB ports on the front and back of them. The ones on the front are often disconnected internally. If your Blackberry isn't recognized on your PC, try using ther USB ports on the back of your computer instead.
- If it still says 'Disconnected', contact our support at for assistance in performing a reinstall of your Blackberry Desktop Manager software or see: Using Macromedia Contribute to connect to TTLC Internet
- If it says 'Offline'...
- Click Options->Email Profile Settings.
- Make sure your Link2Exchange profile is selected and click OK.
- Close Desktop Manager and re-open it.
- If it still says 'Offline', contact our support at for assistance in performing a reinstall of your Blackberry Desktop Manager software or see: Using Macromedia Contribute to connect to TTLC Internet
- That's it! Just by opening Desktop Manager and having it online and connected, your service books are resent to your Blackberry. Disconnect it from your PC and your options for wireless sync should be back. If not, contact our support department at for additional assistance.
