 Troubleshooting

My handheld's LCD is very faint, can I make it brighter?

Document: Q1088

Overview:

The Blackberry can be difficult to read in areas with poor lighting or glare.

Procedure:

For some Blackberries, it may be possible to modify the screen contrast settings to alleviate this problem. (We know for certain that this cannot be done on the Blackberry 7510, though.)
  1. From the Device Options screen, choose Screen/Keypad.

  2. Adjust the screen contrast to your preference.

  3. Save your changes.

If you haven't turned on your backlight, it can help substantially. (NOTE: Your backlight does drain the battery so it automatically shuts itself off after 10 minutes of inactivity.)
  • On the Blackberry 7510 (and other new Blackberry devices), click the sun key (also used as the power button). Don't hold this key down or it will turn off your Blackberry. Just push it and release.
  • On older Blackberry devices, click the Alt key three times to activate the backlight.
