Overview:
Link2Exchange business accounts (those not ending in @link2exchange.com) come with an unlimited number of email aliases. This means that you can create as many aliases as you want and point them to existing Link2Exchange mailboxes or to mailboxes on other servers. If you want to create an alias that sends email to a remote server instead of to a Link2Exchange-hosted account, you must create an 'external contact'. Follow the procedure below to create an external contact.
Procedure:
- Log into the Link2Exchange Control Panel as admin@domain.com with the administrator password for your domain.
- Under 'Hosted Exchange 2003' or 'Hosted Exchange 2007', click External Contacts.
- Click Add External Contact.
- Add the external contact as follows:
- Next to Name, type in the username of the alias. (Not it's destination but it's name. For example, if joe@domain.com is an alias that forwards mail to joseph@domain.com, you'd type joe in here.)
- Next to Display Name, type in the username of the alias. (same as above)
- Next to Email Address, type in the email address to which you're forwarding the email.
- Next to contact alias, type in the username of the alias. (same as two above)
- Click Add.
- That's it. Now send a test message to the external contact and it will go through to the remote email account you specified.
