Overview:
Link2Exchange business accounts come with an unlimited number of email aliases. This means that you can create as many aliases as you want and point them to existing Link2Exchange mailboxes. For example, you can have a mailbox named joseph@domain.com which can receive mail sent to jo@domain.com and sales@domain.com as well as joseph@domain.com. To configure an alias on your Link2Exchange business account, follow the procedure below. Please note that accounts @link2exchange.com cannot add unlimited aliases. Only accounts with their own domain name can add aliases.
To add an alias to forward mail to a different server (such as hotmail.com), follow the procedure for creating an external contact (linked below).
Procedure:
- Log into the Link2Exchange Control Panel as admin@domain.com with the administrator password for your domain.
- Under 'Hosted Exchange 2003' or 'Hosted Exchange 2007', click Distribution Lists.
- Click Add Distribution List.
- Add the distribution list as follows:
- Next to Display Name, type in the username of the alias. (Not it's destination but it's name. For example, if joe@domain.com is an alias that forwards mail to joseph@domain.com, you'd type joe in here.
- Next to List Address, type in the username of the alias. (same as above)
- Next to owner, select your email address.
- Next to Comments, enter in optional comments on what this alias is being used for.
- Click Add.
- Add user(s) to your Distribution List.
- Click the radio button next to your alias/distribution list name then click manage distribution list.
- Put a check next to the name of each user who should receive email sent to the alias then click Subscribe.
- That's it. Now send a test message to the alias and it will go through to the users who are subscribed to that alias.
