 Troubleshooting

I can't use the 'Lookup' feature on the Blackberry to find e-mail addresses. Why?

Document: Q1278

Overview:

Blackberry handhelds have a built-in feature which allows users to search the Global Address List on the Exchange server for contacts when composing an e-mail.

Link2Exchange has disabled this feature because:

  • It only performs lookups on the Link2Exchange Global Address List, meaning that users contacts aren't searched. This just leads to confusion.

  • It searches the entire Global Address List, including addresses from all organizations on the Exchange server which the user's account is hosted on. This could lead to having an unscrupulous user sell off a list of Link2Exchange customer e-mail addresses which we strive to prevent at all costs.

Procedure:

There is no workaround. If you want to look up users within your organization, your best option is to add them as contacts into your Contacts folder in Outlook. That way they'll be easily available on your Blackberry.
