 Troubleshooting
I'm not receiving any e-mail on my Blackberry but my Outlook works perfectly.
Document: Q1266
Overview:
If your connection to the Link2Exchange server is working perfectly in Outlook and you can't receive e-mail on your Blackberry then follow the procedure below to troubleshoot your wireless connection.
Procedure:
- Make sure your Outlook connection to Link2Exchange is, in fact, working.
- If your Blackberry is connected to your PC then unplug it from the USB cable. By default, e-mail will not be delivered wirelessly to your handheld when it's connected to your computer.
- Check to be sure that you have a data signal on your phone. You may be in area which doesn't have sufficient cell coverage to open a data connection.
- You may not be registered on your cellular carrier's network. Try re-registering on your cellular carrier's to be sure you have a valid connection to them.
- If you passed the tests above and you still cannot receive e-mail on your Blackberry then your Blackberry Desktop Manager settings are corrupt. You will need to perform a clean uninstall of Desktop Manager and then reinstall it.
- To perform a clean uninstall, see: our KB article on performing a 'clean uninstall' of Blackberry Desktop Manager.
- To re-install, see: our KB article on installing Blackberry Desktop Manger.
- Finally, to configure your new Desktop Manager, see: our KB article on configuring Blackberry Desktop Manager to connect to Link2Exchange.
- Test your e-mail connection again.
- On your Blackberry's home screen, click Messages.
- Click the trackwheel to pull up the menu then click Compose Email.
- Scroll to the top of your address list, and click [Use Once].
- If a drop-down menu appears, click Email.
- Type in your Link2Exchange e-mail address then click the trackwheel and click Continue on the drop-down menu.
- Type 'testing blackberry email' next to Subject.
- Scroll down and type 'Testing Blackberry email' in the message area.
- Click the trackwheel and click Send on the drop-down menu to send your message.
- You should receive the message on your Blackberry within a minute.
- If you do not receive this message on your Blackberry, check Outlook to see if it arrived in your mailbox at all.
- Contact support at for assistance if you're still not receiving e-mail on your Blackberry whether the e-mail you sent in Outlook or not.
