Overview:
Many users prefer not to upgrade their PCs to Windows XP Service Pack 2 because it includes and enables firewall software which can cause a loss of connectivity if not properly configured.
For those users, Microsoft has made a patch available which will enable Windows XP Service Pack 1 to work with Link2Exchange's service.
To install this patch, follow the instructions below.
Procedure:
- Click here to go to Microsoft's download page for this patch.
- Click Download (on the top-righthand side of the screen).
- Click Save.
- Click Desktop (on the left) then click Save.
- Right click on the file named Q331320_WXP_SP2_x86_ENU.exe on your Desktop and scan it for viruses (if you have a virus scanner). True, this software is from Microsoft and is almost certainly safe but you shouldn't take any chances.
- Double-click the file named Q331320_WXP_SP2_x86_ENU.exe on your Desktop.
- On the Welcome screen, click Next.
- Accept the Licence Agreement then click Next (or Install or Finish, depending on what it says).
- The software patches will now install. You should reboot your PC once they're completed. After that, your Outlook 2003 client will be able to connect to Link2Exchange's mail server.
