 HOW-TOs

HOWTO: Configure your Blackberry device (post-4.0) to delete mail from the server when mail is deleted on the Blackberry.

Document: Q1234

Overview:

By default any email deleted from your Blackberry handheld will not be deleted from the Link2Exchange server. Most users prefer this because they use the Blackberry sparingly and want to file or store messages even after they've been replied to. For users who use the Blackberry as a primary email client or who want to only have to delete items in one location, follow the steps below to configure your handheld.

Procedure:

  1. On your Blackberry device's home screen, click Messages.
  2. Click the trackwheel to pop-up a menu then click Options.
  3. Scroll down and click Email Reconciliation.
  4. Scroll up to 'Delete On:' then click the trackwheel to bring up the menu.
  5. Click Change Option.
  6. Select how you want to handle mail deletions on your Blackberry.

    1. To automatically delete messages from the server when they're deleted on the Blackberry device, click Mailbox & Handheld.

    2. To prompt on how to handle each message when it's deleted, click Prompt. This will give you the option of whether to delete mail from both the server and the handheld or just from the handheld for each message you delete.

    3. To automatically delete messages only on the Blackberry device, click Handheld.
  7. Click the trackwheel to pop-up a menu then click Save.
