Configuring Outlook to connect via IMAP

Overview:

The instructions below will guide you through the process of configuring Outlook to connect to your Link2Exchange account via IMAP. Please keep in mind that IMAP will only synchronize emails. If you want everything to synchronize please refer to one of these two articles:

Procedure:

  1. Click Start->Control Panel in your start menu.

    • If you are using Category View (it says “Pick a Category…” on a blue background) then click User Accounts and then Mail.

    • If you are using Classic View (a bunch of icons appear on a white background) then double-click Mail.




  2. Outlook 2003- choose add a new email account.




  3. Outlook 2007- Choose manually configure server settings or additional server types- click NEXT




  4. Choose Internet E-mail (IMAP)




  5. Type out your user information and server information
    • Your Name: type your name as you want people to see it when you email them.
    • Email Address:
    • Account Type: IMAP
    • Incoming Mail server: mail.link2exchange.com
    • Outgoing Mail server: mail.link2exchange.com
    • Username: you@yourdomain.com
    • Password: Your account password




  6. Click the More Settings button and go to the Outgoing Server tab, put a check in the box for My Outgoing server requires authentication.




  7. Go to the advanced tab and choose SSL from the drop down menu for both incoming & Outgoing servers
    • Incoming Server (IMAP): 993
    • Outgoing Server (SMTP): 25



  8. Click OK, NEXT and FINISH
