Overview:
While Link2Exchange strongly recommends using RPC over HTTP and our Profile Configuration "ProfConf" tool, it is possible to manually setup a Link2Exchange POP account.
Please note that some of Outlook/Exchanges functionality will not work with POP3, such as the use of Public Folders. We strongly recommend using RPC over HTTP so that these features remain open to you.
Procedure:
To setup a Link2Exchange user's access via POP3 make sure you have your VPN client connected then do the following:
- Click Start->Settings->Control Panel.
- Double click Mail.
- Click Show Profiles.
- Click Prompt for a Profile to be used.
- Click Add.
- Type in L2E POP for the Profile name. (Technically whatever you want to put in is fine.)
- Click Add new email account then click Next.
- Click POP3 then click Next.
- Type in your personal and account information in the provided boxes then click Next.
- Incoming Mail Server: server.name
- Outgoing Mail Server: server.name
- Username: your full email address (including the domain name)
- Click Test Account Settings. You should get all green checkmarks. If not, review what you typed in and make sure your VPN client is connected to Link2Exchange then try again.
- To leave a copy of your email on the server (recommended since this is an Exchange server):
- Click More Settings.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Put a check next to Leave a copy of messages on the server.
- Put a check next to Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items'.
- Click OK
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
